Los Cabos Receives Three New Blue Flag Beaches

Los Cabos was recently awarded three new Blue Flag Beach distinctions bringing the total number to 22 beaches. Los Cabos accounts for more than one-third of all of Mexico’s certified and accredited Blue Flag Beaches.

What Is a Blue Flag Beach?
According the the Blue Flag website, “the iconic Blue Flag program is one of the world’s most recognized eco-label accreditations organized by the Foundation for Environmental Education and promotes sustainable development in marine areas.  In order to qualify for this prestigious award, local authorities must achieve and maintain a series of strict environmental, educational, safety and access-related conditions. In addition to green and sustainable practices, the beaches also undergo and comply with frequent water quality testing, enforce a polite and eco-conscious code of conduct, and offer public facilities such as restrooms. A Blue Flag Beach is proudly non-discriminatory and is accessible to all, regardless of age, gender, political views, or religion. Dogs or pets, other than assistance dogs, are not allowed on a Blue Flag Beach.”
