With state-of-the-art meeting and convention facilities, a variety of ocean-front resorts, warm and friendly hospitality and elevated health and safety protocols, Los Cabos has long been at the top of event and meeting planners’ lists, however the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown meeting professionals in unprecedented territory. As the pandemic wanes and people start gathering again, there are new guidelines planners should keep in mind when choosing a destination and venue to ensure clean, safe spaces and experiences for attendees.
As Los Cabos looks to the future, the destination has positioned meetings & incentives as a top priority and in addition to receiving the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) “Safe Travels” Stamp of Approval the meeting segments in particular has established guidelines and a framework of best practices specifically for the correct management and execution of events. This manual thoroughly addresses all the concerns that professional meeting planners should be asking when activities resume.

Lourdes Bizarro, Meetings and Bid Manager of the Los Cabos Tourism Board shares, “In continuing our efforts to become the best destination for meetings and events in Mexico, we decided that it was very important to provide to our clients and meeting planners with the necessary tools and information related on how Los Cabos is preparing and implementing the health and safety protocols. We understand that an open and continued communication with our clients and giving them confidence in our well-thought out and established protocols, not only in the destination, but in the overall chain of the meetings industry, are a key factor for a faster recovery process.”
These guidelines are applicable to the entire chain involved in the organization of an event, including local, national, and international attendees and is divided into three key phases: pre-event, during, and post-event.

Bizarro adds that in addition to sharing this information, the destination is working on more flexible booking policies so event planners are protected, “What [the tourism board] is doing is to work along with the Los Cabos Hotel Association to sensitize all our hotels and suppliers to be as flexible as possible when signing a contract. This flexibility will allow our planners and clients to feel more confident when closing business with us.”
Anytime meeting planners require assistance with planning a conference in Los Cabos, from conceptualizing a bid strategy to producing a customized bid book, the Los Cabos Tourism Board is perfectly positioned to help and are making every effort to support any inquiries. “In Los Cabos a higher level of care has always been our currency of hospitality, sustainability and safety,” Bizarro said. “You feel it the moment you arrive.
