Earlier this month, renowned Chef Thierry Blouet and his esteemed team at Café des Artistes Los Cabos celebrated a milestone – the restaurant’s five-year anniversary. Café des Artistes Los Cabos, is located inside JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa, within the exclusive residential development of Puerto Los Cabos, just 20 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport and 15 minutes from downtown San Jose del Cabo.

The restaurant is part of Grupo Café des Artistes, founded and owned by Blouet (along with his flagship restaurant in Puerto Vallarta which will soon celebrate its 30-year anniversary) combines Mexican flavors blended with gourmet French techniques to create cuisine that is constantly evolving.

The anniversary menu offered dishes that were served for the first time. “I like to create new dishes for special occasions,” said Blouet. “I like to challenge myself all the time, even serve some new dishes that I design in my mind and have never practiced before, like the quinoa and potatoes with black truffles and petit pois vinaigrette.”
For the first time on the table, Blouet also served up confit lobster with spinach purée and dill foam butter paired with a stuffed cabbage, mushrooms , bacon and fish mousse.

“The opportunity to open Café des Artistes inside a hotel, in this case, in JW Marriott Los Cabos, came to me [after many years of looking],” said Blouet. “I met one of the owners of the hotel group and my dream came true . And I love Los Cabos. In Baja, you’ll find the best farm-to-table ingredients and all the fish and seafood from both seas.”

The anniversary menu focused on flavors, as Blouet called, “an intense flavor festival.” Also on the anniversary menu was the short rib glazed with prune and cooked in red wine sauce served with a lentils risotto. For dessert – a chocolate tart with nuts, walnuts and salted caramel, tangerine ice cream.

“I’m very proud of my team in Los Cabos – chef Mario, manager Andres, Somelier Ivan, and all the staff – we have a great team,” said Blouet.
